Well this is where it all began, on Sunday March 30th 1997 at 6pm, after a countdown we were greeted with the anouncement:
"It's six o'clock, on Sunday March
30th, and this, is Five".
At which point, the pop
group 'The Spice Girls' burst onto the screen with a
special written song. The five members, dressed in the Channel 5
colours, sang and danced the introduction to the first programme,
'This is Five', on Britain's newest Channel, Channel
5.
This page is about that very first programme,
which basically introduced the Channel and what sort of programming
to expect. The two presenters, Tim Vine (presenter of gameshow
'Whittle') and Juila Bradbury (presenter of entertainment show
'Exclusive', took us through this half hour programme, which
included the first advert break for the Channel.
